Law Enforcement_Beyond the Fines

Reported on January 5, 2013 from Mangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32717

Recently, I happened to drive into Mangalore City in in rush hour and like most upcoming cities, there is a genuine dearth of Parking spaces. I had to approach a State owned insurance firm as I had a pending claim. As I was in a hurry, I parked my car on the side of the road and rushed. On returning, I found the car's front wheel locked. As I was in a rush to get to office, I panicked and started asking around. Turns out, the Officer, one Mr. Rao (Traffic Division), had given me sufficient time to move my car(which i hadnt heard since the building was some distance away) and then locked. Upon reaching out to the nearest traffic Policeman, he informed Mr. Rao over the walky-talky, who promptly asked me to wait near my car. Most of the passersby told me that since its a car, I may have to shell out 500 to 600 Rs. Upon reaching the spot, he asked me my name, entered the details on his Blackberry and gave me a receipt for Rs. 100 paid as fine towards the Parking violation. MOST IMPORTANTLY, HE SHOWED ME AREAS IN THE VICINITY WHERE I COULD PARK FROM NOW ON AND NOT VIOLATE THE LAW. IMPRESSIVE.

What's your reaction?
