No bribe paid for getting certified copy of complaint
I had filed a NCR against an ex-employee of mine at Yeslur Police station coming under ********** SP. I had tentatively and with lots of apprehension approached SP office.
I was informed that I would have to file the request under RTI act and I had purchased Rs40/- for the required fees. I was also informed that I had to file under RTI with the relevant police station.
Reluctantly, I approached Yeslur Police station. I was immediately taken to the station in-charge PSI Mr.**********. He spoke to me in fluent English. I hesitatingly informed him that I had come to file a request under RTI and that I am from Bangalore and would be extremely grateful if he could release the certified copy of the complaint thus eliminating one trip.
He curtly informed me to relax in his cabin and went out of his room. While I started wondering how much time this will take and how much of bribe I need to pay, he comes back after 5 minutes and orders for a cup of tea to be served to me!
when I tried to raise the issue, his exact words were "Relax Mr. xxx. Give us some time to locate the records." After 15 minutes, his deputy walks in with the file. After asking for the photo copy to be taken, he immediately certified the copies and my work was over within 25 minutes of me entering the police station.
When I tried raising the issue of "service charges", I was curtly told not to "influence" the police force and that he would not take even a single rupee as bribe.
