Insurance Inspector claimed money in return of a fat return
Our car met with an accident July, 2014 at Bardhaman, West Bengal. We had an insurance with the Oriental Insurance Ltd. According to rule, if an accident happens, the victim can report it to the local branch, which in turn launches the procedure. But in complete reversal of sorts, the Bradhman Branch asked us to first get a formal letter from Bokaro branch requesting the Bardhaman branch to take up the case. When this was done, the insurance inspector who prepares the damage report called my father over telephone to meet personally. Catching the motive, we decided not to meet him. In retaliation, this guy not only delayed submitting the report by one year, he also made a botched-up report and reduced the claim drastically by Rs.60,000. Although we are at our wits end, we have not budged and are thinking to take the case up to the consumer court.
