Liquor Bottles

Reported on March 6, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32479

I was travelling with my family from Dublin to Bangalore and I had permitted amount of liquor bottles and I had a print out from customs of India website which states the permitted amount of Liquor but when arrived at the Bangalore airport the customs officer demanded to open our luggage and we did and he spotted the champagne bottles and started arguing that we are carrying excess amount of alcohol. In spite of producing the printed sheet from customs website the officer kept arguing and he called 3 more officers to his support and at that stage we were arguing for 30 minutes already and I was at the verge of giving away couple of bottles but my wife was adamant and she said that she would rather break the bottles if it is excess then and there than handing over it to the officials. Finally without no other way after an argument of nearly an hour we came out of the airport without handing over them either the bottles or any Euros. Though we were bit upset about the delay we were proud that we din't pay a bribe.
