Some good officers among the corrupt are our promise for tomorrow
I have applied for BBMP Khatha on 20th October 2012 and received an acknowledgement for the same from the BBMP office in Viboothipura, Marathahalli P.O.- 560037. When I went to enquire about the status today (9th Nov 2012), I was asked to ********** the case worker Mr. ************. For my surprise, I found him acting very hostile to me. In fact he was insulting me quoting the reason that I am from Kerala and people from other states don’t have any right to come to government offices in Bangalore. Since I was unable to understand the cause of all these scolding( Yes! In fact what he did to me was real insult!), I went and talked to the ARO in the same office. It was a great relief for me, when ARO and another case worker Mr. **********, helped me bringing the matter to a more professional way. They had to fight with their unprofessional colleagues & touts (That part I did not mention! Touts also join corrupt officials to harass us, to make the environment unfriendly to public – this helps the nexus between touts & corrupt officials to exploit poor citizen with bribe). During the melee, the nexus tried to create a story that my property is under ‘ litigation’. Oops! That was another googly that they have tried. But the ARO was very professional and he has directed those officials to stop all such baseless arguments and continue processing my Khata. Mr. **********, another uncorrupt case worker, has taken up my case and directed me to pay the standard fee of Rs 125/- and issued a receipt. He has given his mobile number and asked me to check with him, before coming to collect the Khata during Thursday next week. Seeing young officer like **********, I still have hopes on an uncorrupt India. Take Away: All humiliation & harassment (without assessing the level at which they attack) are created to weaken poor citizen. Though I was surprised, you should be more prepared for such ‘attacks’ You may experience your fellow applicant is also hostile. Don’t get surprised; they are touts who live like parasites on these corrupt officials. There are Good officers and executives like the ARO and Mr. **********, whom you can depend and they will guide you on what to do. It is not easy for people like them, as they have to fight ( in fact a lot) with the corrupt for the common man. - ******** ************
