Why should I pay bribe
I registered my client's firm for service tax number. My client was called by the officer and he asked for a bribe. But i resisted and i argued that as per the law if i dont get a service tax registration certificate within one week of submission of all the relevant documents I can consider it as registered. And in this case there was no notice from the department for lack of documents so i argued that i wont pay a bribe to get the certificate and will consider it issued. Now the ball was in his court whether he want to give me certificate or not and he handed over ti to me saying nothing. I would urge all the readers that please read all the regulations and laws before paying any bribe. If you do all your documentation perfect then there should be very less chance of officers asking for bribe. I believe that we give government officers chance to ask for bribe in favor of passing our file. We want them to do the wrong for something wrong that we want to do.
