Paid Bribe for Name Correction and Sital Area Correction on Khata

Another unfortunate event. The Khata Certificate and Khata Extract of my property had incorrect name and sital Area. I was told that this is a data entry mistake. I have submitted all the coduments required by to the inspector. I basically went to the same guy who had anyway collected a bribe from me earlier. Now, with all the proper documentation, still the revenue inspector from Chennamanakere Acchukattu BBMP office, asked for a heft Rs.15000 to get this corrected. Basically for a mistake by the BBMP office, why should I pay. Then as usual, i received mouthful from many of the folks standing there..including comments like do you have the guts to go and ask a minister who is looting hundreds of crores. Moreover, my property is big and hence i should give him Rs 15000. Otherwise, i won't get the khata corrected in my lifetime!!.
This whole excercise took me almost a month and finally i had to just accept the fact that nothing will move unless I PAY BRIBE. Finally i settled for Rs.12000. I am feeling ashamed of myself but not sure if I really have a choice.
